Wednesday Gray
This morning, it’s the plaintive cry of seagulls that greets us when we open the shutters. The sky is loaded with low gray clouds and the wind blows in from the sea. Though the temperature is mild, the weather looks threatening but that hasn’t ever stopped us before. So, after breakfast, we put on our hiking shoes and head for the coastal trail.
Despite the lack of sun, the landscape spreads out before us with always changing colors. As we follow the path along stone steps and ledges or sandy beach, we cross others making the hike. The air is fresh, and the scent of pine and rosemary creeps up our noses. It’s good to be out and about.
Now it’s time to go home. We make a savory leek soup to warm us up. Along with a baguette and good cheese and wine from our landlord’s vineyard, it’s all we need to finish the day. Well, there is a book to read and plans to be made for tomorrow…
